There is more to the fashion industry than design. The modern fashion landscape represents a range of industry professionals, many of whom drive the strategic and tactical direction of fashion brands without formal training or experience in apparel design or construction. In fact, for every designer or pattern-maker working at a brand there are numerous other creative and business roles that contribute to the overall success of a given collection. Where designers outline the cut or form of a garment, fashion business professionals drive how it goes to market, overseeing production, communication, retail strategy, budgeting, distribution and more, with new roles evolving each and every day. Our Bachelor of Fashion Business is designed to produce graduates who can excel and adapt to this changing fashion landscape by providing a thorough understanding of the diverse roles and responsibilities underpinning the fashion industry. This unique undergraduate course, developed in conjunction with the fashion industry and our sister school Melbourne School of Fashion, provides students with formal training across essential fashion touch points such as content creation, styling, visual merchandising, buying and sustainable sourcing as well as integral business skillsets including consumer behaviour, marketing, strategic communication, accounting & finance, macro/micro economics, ecommerce strategies & digital management. Throughout the course students experience the comprehensive lifecycle of a garment, from initial design and development through production, marketing and digital implementation. Combined with our industry-first approach, we are able to produce graduates who are knowledgeable, professional and ultimately go on to a successful and fulfilling career within the fashion industry.
