This course is designed for both aspiring managers and people currently employed in business or management.
The Holmes MBA (Professional) has the clear objective of providing business education and skills to students to enable them to manage and lead in organisations in the digital age. The Holmes MBA (Professional) will enable you to critically examine problems and opportunities through a range of analytical frameworks.
The MBA (Professional) course is a 2-year course, delivered over four trimesters on a full-time basis. To meet the requirements for graduation, all students must successfully complete 16 units.
Students may elect to exit the MBA (Professional) after two trimesters having qualified for the Graduate Diploma in Business (GDB) award which consists of 8 units, or after three trimesters completing 12 units qualified for a Master of Business Administration award.
There are eight core units in the MBA (Professional). All students must complete these core units and then may choose to either complete their MBA (Professional) with general electives in Business and Management, or complete single or dual specialisations.

On successful completion of this course, students are awarded the Master of Business Administration (Professional). The course meets the Australian Qualifications Framework specifications for a Level 9 master degree.
Students may be able to shorten the length of this course by applying to transfer any recognised prior learning credits. The application will be assessed in consistence with the principles of the Holmes’ Advanced Standing Policy.
The MBA (Professional) has been designed to offer students flexibility in their learning through the offering of core units plus a number of specialisations and nested qualifications. This course equips a graduate to go on and apply to enrol in further studies at an Australian University.
The purpose of an MBA (Professional) is to prepare students to enter the competitive business world of today, equipped for the future with a first-hand appreciation of the key aspects of management. The MBA (Professional) should provide students with an understanding of the contemporary business environment while at the same time preparing them as professionals to face the business challenges of an evolving work environment.
This course is delivered face-to-face on campus. Units are delivered in a lecture and tutorial format.
Throughout the course students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods in the course have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over a range of assessment tasks.
Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including assignments, journals, presentation, test and examinations. These tasks could be undertaken as an individual or group.
Students are advised of the assessment requirements for a unit in the unit outline.
The MBA (Professional) course is designed to provide students with a wide breadth of knowledge of different aspects of management and business. The course is relevant to a range of professionals who wish to develop their skills and knowledge in relation to business management and their application to business. The Course Learning Outcomes are consistent with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF Level 9) and Bloom’s Taxonomy.
